Looking back, and looking forward January 19, 2009
On July 28, 2004, I said this:
OK, I’ve been watching the Democratic Convention coverage on C-Span for the last couple of nights. Unless you’re new here, you already know that I’m a proud liberal and democrat. But at times over the last decade or so, that almost seems like something to be ashamed of – liberal is a dirty word, you know. So events like the convention help me remember that I’m not alone in the way I view the world. Last night, I really wanted to see Ron Reagan, Teresa Heinz Kerry, and Barack Obama. I kept hearing about Obama, and I wanted to see for myself.
Oh. My. God.
I literally got cold chills listening to his speech. I thought to myself: “He will be President someday, and I’m looking forward to it.”
And tomorrow, he will be President.
Here’s that speech:

But really? It’s winter. Nothing terribly exciting is going on, unless you’re the parent of a potty-training toddler. I’m thinking it’s probably not that interesting to other people who don’t live in my house. Winter sucks. We work and go home and cook dinner and play with the kids and help with homework and do chores and get up the next day to do it all over again.
Hell, my life bores me at the moment. I’m certainly not going to inflict it on you.
if I think of anything to post, I’ll be back. Until then, you’ll have to make do with my daily bookmarks. There are at least some fabulous looking recipes!
In other news, I’m trying to find a good vacation spot for this summer. I’m thinking Virginia Beach, or Myrtle Beach maybe. Any thoughts/suggestions/experience? I may get excited enough next week to post some stray thoughts, or even possibly coherent ones. I am looking forward to Tuesday more than I thought possible.

It’s good to know talented writers. I don’t have the same talent, unfortunately. But if I did, this is remarkably similar to what I’d write.
Go read it. And don’t forget to vote on Tuesday . . .
